Big D Proud is an offshoot of the Big D Design brand, born from a response we didn't plan for, but one we certainly aren't walking away from.
We set out to create art with grit, substance, and a refusal to apologize for existing. We didn't run focus groups and we most certainly didn't build this to fit into some corporate-approved mold. We targeted certain demographics, sure, but there was always a sense of generalization meant to open the art to anyone who would find it interesting no matter their reason. We built characters like Darwin Dutton to represent a specific aesthetic—bold, raw, and unapologetic.
What we found was an unexpected, fierce response from the gay community.
Let’s be clear: we aren’t changing our mission, we aren't chasing a new audience, and we aren't bowing to the trends; we are showing appreciation to a group of people who showed up for us with overwhelming love and support! Our goal remains the same as it was on day one: to create high-quality, stylized art that speaks for itself. We appreciate the fans who show up and are honored to give them their own selection designed from the ground up to celebrate this new connection and offer them their own voice.
Big D Proud is for the people who found their own reflection in our work and share our values: honesty, resilience, and a total disregard for being told how to think or who to be.
